Park Avenue: money, power and the American dream – Why Poverty?

How much inequality is too much? To find out more and get teaching resources linked to the film, go to

740 Park Ave, New York City, is home to some of the wealthiest Americans. Across the Harlem River, 10 minutes to the north, is the other Park Avenue in South Bronx, where more than half the population needs food stamps and children are 20 times more likely to be killed. In the last 30 years, inequality has rocketed in the US — the American Dream only applies to those with money to lobby politicians for friendly bills on Capitol Hill.

Very good video and I became a follower of WP on Twitter. However, many
comments on here blame one party when the video shows that both reps and
dems support these people. Furthermore, our views on wealth need to change
as just cause someone has more does not mean that someone else has too lose
56:20 min point. I try to get people to start their own investing clubs to
reap some of the gains from Wall Street but am not a salesman and most
people don’t respond. Also the scriptures speak of the true riches which is
not $$. I also try to get people too start Mystery Shopping jobs and again
get few takers…it is like many people just want things handed to them.
Also look at how the homo community bought out the justice system to allow
them to change the definition of marriage when the Mormons could not get it
changed. The worst poverty we have right now though in the USA is over
1million babies killed a year. Talk about income inequality…..what about
life inequality. I am on gmx….Benbrown76

this is so outrageous it makes me furious. Extremely immoral and completely
undemocratic that we allow such corruption by a few extremely rich
wallstreet banker’s and othe corporation’s to create a second guilded age
dominated by the ruling elite. These are the very same people that caused
much of the financial crisis and the extremely high unemployment american’s
experienced during the worst recession in decade’s. Unbelievable those
    fucking asshole’s.

The only way the equal opportunity can work is only when the rich and poor
children will be send on the same standarts to some sort of orphanage camp
and the money of the rich will be in the same pot after they die.

I know I am going to be bashed for this, but if I had these guys kind of
money and I donated millions to your campaign, damn right I want you to
pass laws that will benefit me and support my causes. No one is going to
give you anything free, we vote with the hopes that politicians will do
things for us, shit money talks and I would use mines to speak every
    fucking language known to mankind.

Benefiting you and supporting your “causes” does nothing for the general
populace that are struggling just to survive and just a paycheck away from
getting evicted,… yours truly included! Your mediocre 2-bit inane
degenerate comment would have been better served had you suggested that
millions should be donated to build our own companies in order to create
jobs in the U.S., buy building and marketing our own computers and
electronics, to build more schools and increase the quality of education,
grants to send more students to college, etc. etc. There is a growing
multitude of people that are getting tired of living like bums and slaves
and will explode in the form of a rebellious civil war when the final straw
breaks the camel’s back. It’s so sad that many people will have to die,
both good and bad, in a righteous attempt to return the govt to it’s
      rightful owners…….We The People………

Could the background music be a little louder? Jeez! It’s supposed to be
    “background” music, not “foreground” music!
