Federal Reserve Employee Fined & Sentenced For Mining Bitcoin On Fed Computer
Josh Sigurdson talks with author and economic analyst John Sneisen about a recent story out of Washington regarding a Federal Reserve network systems communication analyst named Nicholas Berthaume who was caught mining bitcoin on a Federal Reserve computer from March 2012 to June 2014.
Due to the fact that the software was unauthorized, Berthaume faces 12 months probation and a $5000 fine.
This is a humorous development (though it’s unfortunate that it’s lead to legal troubles) as it’s likely one of the best trolls on the Federal Reserve in years.
John and Josh humorously break down this recent story. It’s hard to believe that something non-centrally planned would happen at the Federal Reserve.
