Shooting at Umpqua College, Oregon – Donald Trump recommends guns in classrooms
On October 1st, 2015, in Roseburg, Oregon, a 26-year-old gunman, Christopher Harper-Mercer, opened fire in a Umpqua Community College English class, killing nine, before killing himself. The father of the gunman called on the nation Saturday to change its gun laws, saying the massacre “would not have happened” if his son had not been able to buy more than a dozen handguns and rifles. Donald Trump told supporters in Franklin, Tennessee Saturday that more guns, not fewer, might have prevented the tragedy: “It was a gun-free zone…. I’ll tell you, if you had a couple of the teachers or someone with guns in that room, you would have been a hell of a lot better off…” In this video, Walter offers his perspective on the Umpqua Shooting, Gun Control, Freedoms vs. Security, and he also discusses ways we can limit events like this from occurring in the future.
